If you are new to the sport of triathlon or an advanced athlete looking to improve then Stefan of Tri-SL is the coach for you!

After being a Tri-SL athlete for 3 years, and competing at both European and World Championship level, I took time out to have my first baby. There was no doubt in my mind, when I returned to training and racing, that it would be under the watchful eye of Stefan and Tri-SL. Even whilst I lived in the USA, Stefan has coached me through from Sprint distance all the way through to Ironman and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

His training plans are clear and concise and each part of the training cycle is broken down so you know exactly what type of training you are completing and more importantly 'why'. (us triathlete always like to ask questions!) His feedback in my progression through the training and racing calendar was invaluable and he was on hand to answer any questions, settle any worries and quash any hint of under-confidence. He also took into consideration other influence on training and understood family pressures and commitments and worked my training around it all.

Stefan is one of the most competent, personable, professional coaches I know; his approach to his client's needs are fantastic and he will always go that bit further to make sure you are fully prepared. It goes without saying that should I be looking for a coach again in the future, he would certainly be my first port of call!

Thanks Stef!

Focus: Triathlon

Excellent, personable and professional, Stefan really takes the time to understand what his clients goals are and then creates a plan which takes into account the realities of being a competitive AG triathlete whilst juggling life, work and family. I have been working with Stefan for 2 seasons now, and having plateaued before we started working together, i'm now improving each month whilst remaining injury free. Stefan is the man!

Focus: Sprint and Standard Distance Triathlons

Stefan has been coaching me for a number of years with the biggest success being qualification for the Age Group World & European Championships.  He has an excellent athlete centric approach to coaching, understanding and appreciating the important balance that all triathletes face between family, work and training and the competing pressures between them. I can't rate him highly enough; his programmes are comprehensive with no filler or wasted sessions which ultimately deliver the results come race day.

Focus: Time Trials

I’ve been under the coaching of TRI-SL for 3 full seasons now of which every year I have PB’d at each distance I have raced - raising the bar for the following season. The structured training blocks allow me to reach the targets set for me and Stefan is always able to spot when and where the training needs to be tweaked in order to get the best out of me. I would be lost and probably over training myself into the ground if it wasn’t for my weekly session plans, feedback and guidance. Thanks Stefan!

Focus: Isla Norsman Extreme (Sub 12.30)

After 3 year preparing for my main goal full IM Norseman Extreme 2015 in Norway with Stefan I highly recommend his service.

Polite, serious and extreme professional. His holistic focus and thinking was the reason i was able to learn triathlon from scratch and being able to finish my goal with full job and family with an average training week 8,5 hour over 3 years. If I should of planned and prepared to finish my goal by my-self, I would be over trained and probably burnt out.  All programs are based on science and every time I doubted the approach Stefan was always happy to discuss his reasoning and I received valuable evidence and scientific facts, as we worked together my questioning became less as he was always right. The system he utilises for feedback is easy and systematic and a great tool in many ways.

His service is worth trying and it’s not possible to be disappointed if you uphold your responsibilities and complete your training.
I walked away with my black T-shirt and a greater understanding of me as an athlete.

Focus: Middle and Long Distance Triathlons

I have been working with Stefan for many years through which he has guided me to achieve many personal goals including completing my first triathlon, several 70.3 distance events, a cycle from London to Paris and more recently a full Ironman distance race in Nice. His ability to be able to uniquely create training plans for not only the individual event but also the person is truly amazing. He manages to incorporate the right amount of training that is needed to achieve what you have set out to do whilst still having a life! I have seen my personal fitness improve to levels I never thought I could achieve and my body, health and general wellbeing improve along with this. Each year that I compete I see massive improvements in my performances which only serves to motivate further and increase my own personal enjoyment of training and competing.

If you want to achieve your fitness and sporting goals in life and continue to progress those achievements then I cannot recommend Stefan highly enough. His knowledge and experience is second to none and his management of his athletes is both one of understanding and compassion for everyday life. Thank you Stefan you are truly a great Coach!

I was first introduced to Stefan's coaching at one of the Belvoir Tri Clubs coached running sessions back in. At that time, I had been riding a bike for 9 months and running for 3 months. I had not been swimming for 18 months as I had been out with a shoulder injury that didn’t seem to be responding to any physio from various specialists. Fast forward a few months and my training was OK but didn’t really have any proper structure and I was making gains slowly…my shoulder still had me out of the pool. The word in the club was that if you wanted help, Stefan was the man. We had a meeting the following week to discuss my goals, which were very simple, I wanted to be back swimming and I wanted a structured, knowledge based programme that would see me make consistent goals month on month. After one 1to1 gym session and stroke analysis I was back in the pool swimming, pain free. My training programme is excellent, very structured, focussing on strength, technique, endurance and everything in between.
All sessions have a purpose and for me this dials me right into what I need to be doing and achieving. All of this is based on Stefan’s knowledge that he has accumulated over the years, both from education and from real life training and competition, which for me is invaluable. So I would say whatever your goal, small or large, Stefan has the ability, knowledge and experience to help you achieve it.

Focus: Sprint Triathlon

So it started with a plan to somehow get into the GB squad at sprint distance, not the easiest task for Tri-SL coaching this one. It was October 2014 and I needed to be a sprint triathlete by March 2015, I had a history of being an endurance triathlete at ironman distances, I had never been on a turbo, did not know what Garmin gadgets were and had suffered with M.E four years previously. So I served up this winning recipe for Stefan to work with and amazingly the following September I was racing in GB kit in Chicago. How does he do it, moulding a training plan around your strengths and weaknesses. Stefan dissects your data (once I had worked out Garmin) to analyze what was required from you and progress being made and upgrading targets. From all of this sound advice was given and each months training plan was adjusted suitably. It is hard work yes, but you need to buy into the plan, trust him as a coach as he knows exactly what he is doing, I am living proof.

"I’ve no doubt that I wouldn’t have achieved half as much as I have in the last 3 years without the insight and knowledge of Stefan Lawrence of Tri-SL Training. After being "encouraged” by a friend into entering a triathlon as a non-swimmer, Stefan coached me to a spot at the ITU Sprint Distance World Championships in Edmonton in a little over 18 months, and onto a further World Champs in Chicago last year, and this year I’m off to the ETU European Championships in Lisbon. His coaching is fun and engaging and his technical knowledge is exceptional. As a developing club-level coach myself, he’s also really helped me improve my knowledge and skills outside of the competitive arena. I have nothing but praise for him and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him to any of my friends”.
